Shirley Tan Testifies In Congress

(cross-posted from http://oblogdeeoblogda.wordpress.com/)

Shirley Tan is a Filipino immigrant who recently was under the threat of deportation because her same-sex marriage was not recognized as legal, thus not eligible to be sponsored for citizenship by her partner. She recently testified before the U.S. Congress concerning current immigration policy. Shirley’s case connects two of the most highly debated political topics in this country in recent years: same-sex marriage and immigration reform. LFS’ stance is simple: we support the civil rights of all people, whether they are same-sex couples or immigrants. We all deserve the the same rights others have.

Please check out the blog above for more information on this case.
